Over the past few years, we have seen prices of so-called ‘Neoprene’ Waders steadily drop to ludicrous levels. On the face of it, to you the consumer, it might look like good news, but as they say….there’s no such thing as a free lunch! Original Snowbee Neoprene waders use ONLY 100% CHLOROPRENE RUBBER (CR) Neoprene. CR is the very soft, very elastic Neoprene, used in diving suits and the BEST waders available. CR grade neoprene starts life more elastic than cheaper grades and retains its elasticity. Most cheaper waders on the market – which are wrongly described as ‘Neoprene’ use a blended rubber, such as STYRENE BUTADIENE RUBBER (SBR). This inferior material, used by many manufacturers, is harder and less elastic than true neoprene. Not only does it start life less elastic than CR Neoprene, but In a very short space of time – as little as 3-6 months, it loses elasticity. The stresses & strains of everyday use, are then transferred to the seams, rather than being absorbed by the material itself, resulting in the inevitable seam leak !
